Director of Ebano Ballinteer and Myskincare.ie
Karan launched Ebano Ballinteer over 11 years ago with four employees and now currently recruiting and still growing, she has 24 hair, beauty and skin experts in her team.
Karan’s responsibilities include connecting and supporting her team on a day-to-day basis and ensuring both businesses are reaching their maximum ability each week, along with continued growth for each team member.
Karan’s career began when she trained in beauty therapy at Crumlin College over 18 years ago, with her unique leadership skills she was recruited for an elite beauty chain as a manager at 20 years of age and this is were she credits her invaluable experience too.
Whilst managing full-time, Karan worked as an ITEC beauty tutor part-time in Walmer College and holistic center, which she got to pass on the knowledge and passion she had for industry from a different perspective other than managing.
In 2008 Karan launched her own hair and beauty salon, which has gone from strength to strength and operates with a waiting list on a weekly basis. In 2015 she launched The Clinic section of the salon, a purpose built space, where they offer all aspects of skincare and semi permanent brow treatments. The success of Clinic has brought so much opportunity to herself and her team but she prides herself on the unique work environment she has created in an industry that is quite labour intense and short lived to most experts because of burn out!
Karan was selected in 2016 for Going for Growth, a platform to help support women that are serious for success in business and currently attends workshops that continue to support the momentum and development of her business.
Her salon was highly commended by The Irish Times best shops in 2014 and she has been shortlisted for many awards over the 11 years in business.
Karan wants to show other salon owners an easier way to running their business and hopefully allowing them achieve the balance she craved for years in business, all whilst assisting is setting a standard for those entering the world of beauty directly after college and hopefully assisting with the employment shortages the industry is currently having.
